Queensland Motorcycle Licensing System;

Step 1: Check your Eligibility online at TMR online services. Check your eligibility here!

Prior to obtaining your Motorcycle Licence, you must have held your non-learner licence for at least 12 months to be eligible to do the Pre-Learner Course.

 

 

Step 2: Complete the Pre-Learner Course. The Pre-Learner Course consists of two half day sessions in a Carpark. Upon the successful completion of the Course, you will be eligible to complete your online Motorcycle Knowledge Test online with TMR. Complete Motorcycle Knowledge Test here!

 

Upon successful completion of your Knowledge Test and upon paying a small fee to TMR, your motorcycle Learner licence will be issued and endorsed onto your licence. You will then be able to ride on the road with an appropriate ‘supervising’ rider. The minimum time on the Learner Licence is 91 days. 

 

 

Step 3: Complete your Motorcycle Hazard Perception Test online with TMR. Complete Hazard Perception Test here!

 

 

Step 4: Complete the RE Course. This is a one day Course consisting of Carpark exercises and theory modules prior to completing the on road  assessment of the Course. Upon successful completion of the course, your licence can be upgraded online. You will be able to ride on the road unsupervised although remain restricted to a LAMS classified Motorcycle. Riders can remain on a Restricted Open Licence for their duration of their riding. For those wishing to Ride an Unrestricted Motorcycle, they will need to compete the R unrestricted course. 

 

 

Step 5: After 2 years of riding a LAMS (restricted) motorcycle, you may complete the R Course which consists of Practical and Theory modules before completing the on road assessment whilst riding an unrestricted motorcycle. Upon successful completion the Course, your licence can be upgraded online to an R Unrestricted  Open Licence.
